The details provided are full title, place, publisher, date, paging, format, notes, and in most instances the names of libraries possessing copies. The arrangement is alphabetical by authors, anonymous items being entered under a significant word from the title. Most entries were seen by the editor from time to time, but Sabin relied in some case on previously published descriptions, including some from booksellers' catalogues.
