Hardcover, original full leather binding with black label on spine. Leather is in its original untreated state and shows scuffing and wear to the finish. Edges and corners show bumps/wear in the top right corner of the front board has a rectangular chip missing to the finished side. The original owner was Dr. John D Nicodemus (Walkersville, MD) and the book contains several personalized additions such as a small nameplate on the front pastedown, his signatures on both the title page in front end page, and a few pasted in clippings from 19th-century newspapers in the front. We are the second owners of this book as it was purchased directly from Dr. Nicodemus's son (a friend of my father) in Walkersville around 1970. There are also a few bits of ephemera, one of them being a pencil drawing of arteries by the doctor. The interior binding has…

London: G. kershaw & Son, 1852. Hardcover. Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, green cloth boards ornately decorated in gilt on spine. Exterior shows considerable wear with edge and corner bumps, spotting and soiling, and tears to the cloth on spine edges and hinge. Internal binding is in better shape with no hinge cracks noted at boards. The worst issue being that all page sections are uncut and the original owner separated some of these by hand which caused some ugly tears along the page edges. Most of the pages are still uncut, mainly along the top. Pages are tone due to age and foxing is present, though mainly limited to the end pages and frontispiece. Hinge is pulled to where you could see the webbing at page 432/433 but other areas are tight. Some of the pages in the rear of the book (starting at 537) have a crease in the upper outside corner which appears to be from when the book was bound. What makes this copy unique…

Philadelphia, PA: The Library Publishing Company, 1903. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good-. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcovers, two volume set covering the entire year of 1903. Both books have grayish brown boards quarter pound in red cloth to spine. The condition of the books would normally grade VG or better but there are some dampstains present with the worst being the exteriors of both volumes (volume 2 was the worst). The interior binding of both books is similar: neither volume has hinge issues in text pages are secure. Both volumes are free of any handwriting of bookplates, no library markings, no signatures. Volume 1 does show very light dampstain marks along the bottom edge, outside corner area, which does not affect the pages in any way as far as readability. Volume 2 has less interior pages affected, despite more stains being on the outside spine.. The book is very usable, very readable, and the dampstain issue should be considered…
