Iordan Ivanov (1872-1947) was a Bulgarian literary historian, archaeologist, and one of the topmost experts on Bulgarian medieval history. He was also a Professor at the University of Sofia and the National School of Oriental Languages in Paris and one of the founders of the Bulgarian National Archeological Institute. His current book was the culmination of a 2-year trip (1906-1908) studying and documenting the literary, historical, and ethnographic treasures of the Bulgarians in Macedonia. Iliia Ivanov (Shiligarov) was a Bulgarian revolutionary and one of the leaders of the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization (a national liberation organization operating in the Ottoman territories in the late 19th and early 20th century).
