First edition; 4 1/2 x 7 1/2; pp. [7], 10-56; green illustrated wraps; lower corner of front cover xhipped with a few nicks and chips to fore-edge; bookshop stamp to back cover and an outline of a second stamp to first free page; several smudges to corners of pages from handling (not affecting text); illustrated with full-page color plates by artist T.D. Maresov; good to very good condition. Dmitrii Kaigorodov (1846-1924) was a Russian professor, the "father" of Russian Phenology, writer, and one of the most respected specialists in forest technology and ornithology. He was the author of numerous scientific papers, manuals, and books including his current work, part of his series on Russian flora, which focused on plants blooming in the summer.
