Florence Italy: Leo S. Olschki - Publisher, 1964. Hardcover. Unpaginated, perhaps thirty folio leaves printed both sides in b&w, sepia and in color-tints, ranging from fullpage plates to 3 or 4 vignettes per page, hardbound in 11x13.5 inch oblong decorated boards. Corner-tips and head & tail rims slightly blunted, covers have picked up mild dirt and scratches, but most seriously the binding threads are loose and there are several gaps in textblock gutters that reveal this problem. Exposition Coloniale Internationale de Paris 1931 [titlepage] / L'Illustration Mai 1931, L'Exposition Coloniale, Album hors serie [cover title]

Paris: L'Illustration, 1931. Paperback. Unpaginated, perhaps because "hors serie" and not to be confused with a regular issue. Profuse illustrations with plenty of color, also sepia and b&w. Scattered essays are boilerplate, of course. Format is that of the magazine proper: 15x11 inches, cover has color plate affixed. Spine heavily chipped, front wrap detached or nearly so, staples exposed. Could be worse; the textblock is sound in itself, complete, and only mildly edgeworn. Held in Paris; find a couple... [ART AND NEW MEDIA] Los ordenadores, el láser y el arte [Computers, laser, and art]

by Laboratorio de Óptica de la Universidad de Alicante, Centro de Cálculo de la Universidad de Zaragoza (C.C.U.Z.), Manuel Aguado

Only edition of this small catalog of an exhibition dedicated to artistic holography, held in Zaragoza in December-January 1981-82. With the use of laser beams, it was now possible to depict three-dimensional bodies in space that change in shape and color. Artists saw holography as an opportunity to eliminate in one medium the antagonisms between painting and sculpture that had been discussed for centuries. Among other things, this catalog provides an introduction to the technique, which was... Read more about this item
