Description:
Paducah, Kentucky: Privately printed for M. Michael & Bro., n. d. (ca 1885)., 1885. First edition. 5 7/16" x 8 5/8" oblong printed stapled wrappers, 52 pp., illustrated. A lovely trade catalogue for this Kentucky-based carriage manufacturer. Each page carries an illustration of a different carriage, a few of which show amusing little elves working on the carriages. Most give specifications on the carriages, including wheel and body size, leg room, etc. This M. Michael & Bro. catalogue is not listed on OCLC, which only lists an 1895 catalogue for the firm (three copies located); nor is it listed in Romaine. A small chip to the fore-edge of the front cover else a near fine copy. Scarce and quite nice.

New York: Belmont Books, [1963]., 1963. First edition. First edition. PBO. Belmont 90-286. Fine, bright, unread copy in pictorial wrappers. A collection of six short stories filled with a sense of the macabre. Each story stands alone, and each has a theme of madness and disillusionment running through it ... A brilliant film director goes insane when his artistic vision is curtailed by the demands of reality; a cocky air force pilot commits a senseless murder and finds himself assigned to the mountains of Tibet as an indirect consequence; a recovering alcoholic discovers that giving up drinking is possibly the worst thing he's ever done. A wonderful collection.

Description:
London: Jarrolds Publishers Limited, [1945]., 1945. First edition. First edition. Very good copy in a colorful, bright dust jacket with tiny nicks to the spine ends and extremities. A detective meets up with a criminal and is ready to arrest him, when local townspeople want to take the law into their own hands. The detective finds himself fighting in the snow to save the man he was trying to arrest. The story is the basis for the classic 1952 film noir "On Dangerous Ground," directed by Nicholas Ray and starring Ida Lupino, Robert Ryan, and Ward Bond. Scarce in dust jacket and this jacket is one of the nicest we have handled of this fragile wartime title. An attractive copy and very scarce in this condition.
