Description:
Captain A.J. Russell did not photograph celebreties, run fashinable photo-galleries or publish collections of his "views". His peers and superirors recognized the quality of his work, but as with unassuming photographers of the Civil War, many of his pictures were later attributed to Brady. Yet, he remains a major figure in the history o American Photography. A pioneer in every sense. He was officially one of the three civil war's photographer and he was the only one who was a soldier.
