It is unmarked, but there is a plate on the front paste down notifying that this book was given by the Province of Quebec, Waterloo school as a reward for her conduct to Ovila Lague in 1877. It is basically tight, but beginning to separate lower rear. The boards are covered with dark (brown) pebbled cloth with gold designs and titles on the spine. It is rubbed at the edges. There is faint damp stain at the upper corner on some later pages. This assumed first edition is teo volume rubbed with rounded corners and scuffed spine with chipped ends. They are from the library of J. Alden Weir and each bears the bookplate of his son-in-law George Page Ely on the front paste down. They have brown end papers and 315 and 305 lightly foxed pages in three-quarter bindings with red leather on the corners and spine. They have gold titles on the spine and red marbled paper on the boards. They are tight, but have probably been reinforced at the spine, but it's not obvious.

The boards are covered in gray cloth with black titles on the spine and black and red titles front. There is also a gilt U.S. seal on the front. It is illustrated with a baker's dozen black and white, period photos taken by the author. there is occasional light toning and .25" split at the rear hinge. It lists an illustrator, but the only one we can find is the frontispiece photo of Drummond himself.

Boston: Gray & Bowen, 1831. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Soft cover. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. This soft bound book with tan wraps is basically tight and square. It is rubbed at all edges. There is a stain and split at the edge of the back strip, bottom front (about 2"). There are ersures on the front wrap. The names of the authors have been penciled in the margin of the contents. All pages are bright and clear with occasional light toning. It contains reviews of (which ar much more than reviews) books and articles on American Poets (Everett), Anglo-Saxon Language and Literature (Wheaton), Mount Auburn Cemetery (Peabody), Diplomatic Correspondence of the Revolution, among other articles. It has black titles on the front and contains pages 297 - 552, plus advertisements. No title page, information taken from front wrap. Based on others copies we bought as a lot, this book probably belonged to Henry Harris Tuckerman a prominent citizen of the period.

This is a unique, little (4.74" x 3") leather bound booklet that has a flap that seals it up for carrying. It is clean, tight and square. It has an inscription on the front, pale yellow end papers: "A. J. Viera The Dallas Orng(?) Feb the 20 1885". For frontispieces it has two elegant engraved portraits of Jos. L. Ridgely, Grand Secretary, and A. B. Grosh and each has an assumed facsimile signature. We have also assumed that this is a first edition (the copyright date is 1881) at least a first thus. The edge of a front end paper is separating and the last page is loose at the top. The surface leather is a little loose at the spine, rear, bottom. There is some surface soil in places.
