Boston, 1953. Mixed media on paper. Mounted circular label lower right of the Motor Vehicle Research Company. Drawn for A. J White's Motor Vehicle Research Company, which is said to have been a Boston based car designer of exotic cars in the 1950's, this handsome prototype embodies several features that were realized later, especially in recent racing cars. The gleaming prototype is extremely well drawn and seems to be happily flying through the air.

[London, 1791. Watercolour and graphite, on laid paper, numbered 56 in graphite in Abbot's hand in the lower margin corresponding to his manuscript Catalogue of Georgia Birds with Notes. An original watercolour of an American Redstart by an important naturalist in early America. John Abbot was one of the most important and prolific of the early American natural history artists. Born in London in 1751, Abbot developed his interest in natural history and drawing as a child. His curiosity about the natural world was encouraged by his parents who were relatively wealthy (at one time the family library included copies of Mark Catesby's Natural History of Carolina, Florida and the Bahama Islands as well as George Edwards' Natural History of Uncommon Birds and Gleanings of Natural History). Modern speckled calf, spine gilt with leather label Illustrated with a folding map by Moll. "A reprint of the translation printed in 1698 of the Voyage of Sieur Accarrete to Buenos Aires, from Thevenot's Collection, without any acknowledgement of the source from whence it was taken" - JCB. The original was supposedly Relation des Voyages dans la Riviere de la Plata (Paris, 1632), although European Americana says this edition is "very possibly a ghost". The handsome folding map by Moll is "A New Map of Part of the Great River de la Plata, of Tucuman." The dedication in this edition by Darby is addressed to the directors of the South Sea Company.
