Beautiful book with numerous photographs and illustrations, some of them originally black and white photos colored. SIGNED and Dated 9/28/2015 on the Title Page with Inscription "Enjoy the Fair!". Fine as NEW without Dust Jacket as issued. 382 Pages. The Panama–Pacific International Exposition (PPIE) was a world's fair held in San Francisco, in the United States, between February 20 and December 4 in 1915. The Witch Tree Symbol: Nancy Drew Mystery Stories #33

Carolyn Keene (but actually Harriet Stratemeyer Adams)

  • Edition: First Edition - First Printing
  • Book condition: Fine
  • Quantity available: 1
The Witch Tree Symbol Nancy Drew Mystery Stories #33 by Carolyn Keene (but actually written by Harriet Stratemeyer Adams) Hardcover First Edition - First Printing Grosset & Dunlap 1955. The list of Nancy Drew titles ends with this title and the back of the dust jacket is an add for Dana Girls Mystery Stories indicating this is a true first printing copy. Fine in Fine-/Near Fine++ Dust Jacket. A fine book with just the tiniest hint of age-toning, minimal, in just about as nice a dust jacket as you're likely to find. NO tearing to any of the dust jacket at all. Even the back of the dust jacket is quite bright and clean (often the backs of these jackets are darkened). Only some rubbing on the upper-right front corner, and some edge-wear mostly to the upper and lower spine and the top edge. Else this is a near-perfect copy! A stunning example price to sell.NOTE on Nancy Drew First Editions/First Printings: The Nancy Drew and Hardy Boy books are rather notorious for having issues concerning what is a first edition ... The Clue in the Crumbling Wall: Nancy Drew Mystery Stories No. 22

Carolyn Keene (collective pseudonym; actually by Harriet Stratemeyer Adams)

  • Edition: first edition - second state 1946A
  • Book condition: Near Fine+
  • Quantity available: 1
The Clue in the Crumbling Wall Nancy Drew Mystery Stories No. 22 by Carolyn Keene (collective pseudonym; actually by Harriet Stratemeyer Adams) Hardcover First Edition - Second State Dust Jacket New York: Grosset & Dunlap 1945. Identified as a first edition - second state because the last Nancy Drew title listed on the front flap of the dust jacket is "The Secret in the Old Attic" with no mention of the present title. However, the ads at the back are Beverly Gray. The first state should be Judy Bolton. Also, a war-time edition which furthers the case this book is a first printing. Extremely difficult to find with the first state jacket listing the books without mention of the present title. Also with Nancy Drew with a spy glass in silhouette in red on the front board and similar illustration on the front endpapers with other women. Near Fine+ in Very Good Dust Jacket. The book itself is quite clean and solid. Main condition issues are toning to the pages (typical of the war-time editions because of the paper ... Read more

4-50 from Paddington (a.k.a. "What Mrs. McGillicuddy Saw" in the US, later changed to "4:50 from Paddington") by Agatha Christie (author of Murder on the Orient Express, The Mysterious Affair at Styles, Death on the Nile, etc.) The 7th Jane Marple murder mystery novel Hardcover First Edition - First Printing Collins UK: Crime Club, 1957. (Crime Club was an imprint of Collins UK, NOT like book-of-the-month club). no price on the dust jacket, which could mean a book for the international/Australian market. near fine+ in very good+ dust jacket. A very nice copy, hard to find in exceptional condition because many were read multiple times. The book itself is pretty nice for a 60+ year old book: boards generally clean, softness to corners but mostly straight, pages relatively clean, tiniest hint of age-toning to the text-block, but minimal, tiny transparent spot, about 1/8" diameter on the long edge of the text-block . The dust jacket is very bright and clean, main shortcomings are tiny chips to the top of the spi ... Read more

The Gollancz Masterworks has been a series designed to reprint many classics of science fiction and fantasy from circa 2000 to the present. The Gollancz Masterworks series includes "Dune" by Frank Herbert, "The Man in the High Castle" by Philip K. Dick, and many others. The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan Hardcover First Edition - First Printing Putnam 1989. Signed twice by Tan, once on front-free endpaper with personalized inscription dated Dec 6, 1989, and again on the title page as a stand-alone signature. Fine- in Fine- Dust Jacket. A very clean solid copy, some tenderness to the lower corners and some shelf-wear, and bump to upper back board. Dust jacket is just about fine, save a nick to upper back corner, and a pin prick to the front on the "K" of "Luck". A very unusual copy, possibly a presentation copy of some sort, inscribed to Robert L. Jordan of Orinda, CA.The Joy Luck Club is a 1989 novel written by Amy Tan. It focuses on four Chinese American immigrant families in San Francisco who start a club known as The Joy Luck Club, playing the Chinese game of mahjong for money while feasting on a variety of foods. The book is structured somewhat like a mahjong game, with four parts divided into four sections to create sixteen chapters. The three mothers and four daughters (one ... Read more

Three Hearts and Three Lions by Poul Anderson Hardcover First Edition - First Printing Doubleday 1961. States "First Edition" on copyright page and $2.95 cover price on front dust jacket flap. Dust Jacket art by Edward Gorey. (NOTE: this is NOT a book club copy) Fine in Fine- Dust Jacket, NOT price-clipped. Just about as nice a copy as you'll find of Anderson's best fantasy novel. Book itself is near perfect with straight corners, clean boards and clean pages, just a couple of tiny pin-sized dirt marks on the back boards, almost imperceptible. Dust Jacket has NO tears, just very slight edge-wear and some slight soiling to the back which is very common with Doubleday editions from circa 1960 to 1980. Overall a beautiful copy of an uncommon book, especially in this condition. LW. Currey has about four copies currently, none appear to be as good as this one based on his descriptions. NOTE: This is NOT a BCE edition. NOTE: The picture is the actual item for sale. (The picture is NOT a stock photo.) ALSO: All book ... Read more

Collection of nonfiction essays by Clarke including a portion called "Son of Dr Strangelove. NOTE: The picture is the actual item for sale. (The picture is NOT a stock photo.)
