First edition. Baddeley (1854-1940) first visited Russia in 1879. He eventually became the correspondent for the London Standard in St. Petersburg and travelled extensively in Russia. He made his name with two books - The Russian Conquest of the Caucasus (1908) and Russia, Mongolia, and China (1919) - and died shortly before the publication of the present work. First edition. An in-depth analysis of the Brewing process, which provided the most up-to-date methods, at the time, for the manufacture of beer. First German edition of Employment for the Microscope, first published in 1753. Baker (1698 - 1774) won the Copley Medal of the Royal Society in 1744 for his microscopical observations on the crystallization of saline particles, to which much of the first part of this book is devoted. The second part is more concerned with microbiology and includes the first description of dinoflagellates, here called "Animalcules which cause the Sparkling Light in Sea Water". Baker "had the rare gift of communicating his knowledge of, and above all his enthusiam for, the microscope to others. This was what made his two books so widely popular" (DSB I, 411). Second German edition of The Microscope Made Easy.. First published in 1743, this was a popular book on microscopy by one of Britain's leading experts. Baker (1698 - 1774) won the Copley Medal of the Royal Society in 1744 for his microscopical observations on the crystallization of saline particles, which are included in the second part of this work. The first part covers the workings of microscopes, while second part contains descriptions of specimens such as seeds, hairs, insects, organisms that live in the mouth, sperm and blood.This edition also incldues a detailed description of Baker's "Universal Microscope". First edition of an eye-witness account of the first three months of the second Anglo-Burmese War by the late naval instructor of the H.M.S. Fox who died of cholera, before his book came out. In 1852, Lord Dalhousie sent Commodore George Lambert to Burma to settle some disputed points of the Treaty of Yandabo between the countries. An important and beautifully illustrated study of the avifauna of the Atlantic Islands, rarely found in such good condition. This book represents one of the major achievements of the illustrator, David Morrison Reid Henry (1919 - 1977) who, after the death of Lodge, became the Bannermans' main collaborator.

First edition, inscribed by Baring to his mother "Mother. September 5th 1908". Dedicated by Baring to Hilaire Belloc, some of these poems had appeared in parts in The Westminster Gazette before being printed in this format. It includes, among others, the poems Affinity, Blossom, and many other Songs and Ballads. "I have loved once, and forever, and in eternity. Such love as this can never be again."

The first UK trade edition of The Books of Blood, published in 1987 and 1988 respectively. Amongst Barker's canon, Books of Blood has a complex publishing history on both sides of the Atlantic, and a matching set of both volumes can be oddly hard to track down. The books of blood are an anthology of horror stories which would launch Barker's career sidestep from playwright to novelist, and were responsible for a dramatic increase in popular awareness of his work.
