Exterior shows spotting and soiling along with edge and corner bumps/wear, along with several fade spots. The internal binding is overall good, though there is some pulling in spots where the threads are showing - which is the main reason for the lower condition grade. Paper is toned due to age and there is some light foxing and spotting present. The front end page contains the original owners info written in pencil, no other handwriting found, no bookplates, no library markings.

Original owner's name and info penned on the next the last end page. Also included in the book is the original receipt, dated 1889, from the publisher. This has been placed in a glassine envelope and will be included with the book.

Original price of $2.50 is still present on the front flap. DJ is darkened and soiled with numerous edge chips and tears. Red cloth boards underneath are clean but show spotting to the cloth, especially along edges. On the backside the rear hinge has got numerous holes. Possibly from insects. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. Paper is toned due to age and there is some light foxing and smudge marks present. The front end page has the upper outside corner cut which was likely done to remove a price. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no remainder marks. Only other issue worth mentioning is the exterior page edges are soiled on all three sides.

Exterior shows minor spotting and soiling along with some scuffing. Edges and corner bumps are also present. Internal binding has a few issues but for the most part binding is good. The rear hinge is cracked but is repairable and there is some scattered pulling in the text pages. Paper is toned due to age and scattered smudge marks and foxing is present. Front pastedown has a small mark in the upper left corner, presumably from a price sticker, and front end page contains an inscription dated 1918 which appears to be referencing some sort of Serbian Relief Fund. No other handwriting found in the book. No library markings, no bookplates.

His brother , William Whittlesey Badger, took up the cause and published the book in 1895 as a memorial to his late brother Henry. Hardcover, measuring just over 9.25 inches tall and 7 inches wide. Blue-green cloth boards ornately decorated on front and green and gilt with large color paper illustration in center the exterior shows some scuffing and soiling along with edge and corner bumps/wear. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues at boards but there is some pulling at some of the pages. Illustrated green endpapers are free of any handwriting or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting etc. paper is mildly toned due to age and there is some foxing along with a few smudge marks present. This is a larger format book than most others which are offered by this publisher with a 1927 publication date.

The suede is soft but a little powdery. The top edge of the front board is split and there's chipping present at the top of the spine. Internal binding is good at the hinges but there is a thin split at page 80/81 and 176/177 where the webbing is starting to show. The second front end page has the original owner's inscription written in pencil and this page has a bit of pulling on the frontispiece side. The yellow Perfectos ribbon is still present though the ends are frayed. No other handwriting found in the book. Please note: the suede is fragile.

Hardcover, blue cloth boards with large decoration on front. The exterior shows some spotting and scuffing along with edge and corner bumps/wear. There is a small tear in the cloth near the upper left hinge area of the front board and the rear boards shows some minor bubbling. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues at boards. No signatures or bookplates present, no library markings. The only evidence of handwriting found in the book is in the upper right corner of the front end page where you can still see a faint indentation of or a price was once penciled and then later erased. Title page has a small tear along the top edge that measures less than one half of an inch and page 157-159 has some small tears and folds in the lower outside corner which was likely caused during the original binding process.
