Exterior shows spotting and soiling along with edge and corner bumps/wear, along with several fade spots. The internal binding is overall good, though there is some pulling in spots where the threads are showing - which is the main reason for the lower condition grade. Paper is toned due to age and there is some light foxing and spotting present. The front end page contains the original owners info written in pencil, no other handwriting found, no bookplates, no library markings.

New York: G. W. Dillingham Company, 1900. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos or condition details. Hardcover, red cloth boards decorated in gilt on front and spine. Exterior shows edge and corner bumps and wear, spine is quite signed and rear board has numerous scratches. Internal binding is good, hinges are intact at front and rear boards. Pages are toned due to age and some minor foxing is present. There's a hint of webbing showing at page 146. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings present.

Baltimore, MD: R. H. Woodward and Company, 1889. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details of hardcover, brown cloth boards stamped in black and gilt on front and spine, blindstamped on back. All three page edges are gilt. Cloth shows spotting to finish. Floral end pages and front and back. Scattered foxing is present and one page had the corner folded. No hinge cracks, no torn or loose pages found. Original owner's name and info penned on the next the last end page. Also included in the book is the original receipt, dated 1889, from the publisher. This has been placed in a glassine envelope and will be included with the book.

Tan cloth boards with brown design and text, blindstamped on rear. Previous owner signature on front pastedown, no other writing or bookplates noted. Binding good, no torn or loose pages. Pages are toned due to age. An attractive copy with the only issue being some staining on the back board. A novel about a family who suffers hardships because of their father's drinking.

Indianapolis, IN: The Bobbs-Merrill Company, 1926. Hardcover. Good+/Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. Original price of $2.50 is still present on the front flap. DJ is darkened and soiled with numerous edge chips and tears. Red cloth boards underneath are clean but show spotting to the cloth, especially along edges. On the backside the rear hinge has got numerous holes. Possibly from insects. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. Paper is toned due to age and there is some light foxing and smudge marks present. The front end page has the upper outside corner cut which was likely done to remove a price. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no remainder marks. Only other issue worth mentioning is the exterior page edges are soiled on all three sides.

Boston, MA: Sherman, French & Company, 1913. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, green cloth boards with gilt on front and spine. Exterior shows minor spotting and soiling along with some scuffing. Edges and corner bumps are also present. Internal binding has a few issues but for the most part binding is good. The rear hinge is cracked but is repairable and there is some scattered pulling in the text pages. Paper is toned due to age and scattered smudge marks and foxing is present. Front pastedown has a small mark in the upper left corner, presumably from a price sticker, and front end page contains an inscription dated 1918 which appears to be referencing some sort of Serbian Relief Fund. No other handwriting found in the book. No library markings, no bookplates.

Cloth shows spotting and minor corner bumps. Textured end pages. First edition thus. The author, Henry C. Badger, passed away in 1894 before the book was finished. His brother , William Whittlesey Badger, took up the cause and published the book in 1895 as a memorial to his late brother Henry. There is an "In Memoriam" page int the back (page 301) which goes into detail of his brother's death and why he published a book, and is dated Memorial Day, may 30, 1895. On the title page is penned " With kind regards of Wm. W Badger, June 1895". Foxing is present though mainly limited to the end pages, other pages are toned due to age. Limited edition of 1000 copies of which this is number 819. Slipcase shows wear and light soiling, backside of slipcase is a bit crushed but all seams are intact. Red and tan cloth boards are clean and corners are sharp. Internal binding is good and text pages are very tight like book was never read. There is some foxing and soiling on the end pages and pastedowns remaining pages are clean. No signatures or bookplates present. Book grades as near fine in a VG- slipcase.

Philadelphia, PA: The John C. Winston Company, 1927. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Edwin John Prittie. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, measuring just over 9.25 inches tall and 7 inches wide. Blue-green cloth boards ornately decorated on front and green and gilt with large color paper illustration in center the exterior shows some scuffing and soiling along with edge and corner bumps/wear. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues at boards but there is some pulling at some of the pages. Illustrated green endpapers are free of any handwriting or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting etc. paper is mildly toned due to age and there is some foxing along with a few smudge marks present. This is a larger format book than most others which are offered by this publisher with a 1927 publication date.

Hardcover, brown cloth boards blind stamped with publishers logo on front and rear. Exterior shows spotting and soiling along with some light wrinkling to the cloth, corners softened and edges show bumps/wear. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. Salmon colored end pages and front and rear. The front pastedown and second end page shows some light penciling along with a signature, also in pencil. The second end page also has a large faint dampstain which is also present on the backside of the half title page. No other handwriting found in book, no library markings, no bookplates. First edition, second state, with the title page spelling correctly reading "Thackeray" (the first state misspelled it as "Thackaray"). Boston, MA: H. M. Caldwell Co., 1903. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, brown suede covered boards with gilt on front. The suede is soft but a little powdery. The top edge of the front board is split and there's chipping present at the top of the spine. Internal binding is good at the hinges but there is a thin split at page 80/81 and 176/177 where the webbing is starting to show. The second front end page has the original owner's inscription written in pencil and this page has a bit of pulling on the frontispiece side. The yellow Perfectos ribbon is still present though the ends are frayed. No other handwriting found in the book. Please note: the suede is fragile.

Exterior shows quite a bit of edge creases and chips as well as soiling. Internal binding is good except for a thin crack page 42/43 where the book was open too far. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings present. This is written by the author of Handbook of Electro-Therapy who was also the president of the Western Electro-Therapeutic Association of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Inscribed and signed by the author to Colonel M. C. Buckley on the front end page. DJ is soiled and scuffed with numerous chips and tears present, top of jacket at spine is missing a piece and rear of DJ has larger tear near the upper outside corner. Tan paper covered boards with brown cloth on spine, exterior shows scuffing and soiling despite always been protected by the dust jacket. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. Pages are toned due to age and text pages are clean but end pages and pastedowns show foxing and scuffing. Newton D. Baker served as the US Secretary of War during WWI and was also a politician, lawyer, and georgist. Please note: this is the first edition and not one of the limited edition copies.

Spine is chipping and small tear near the word Baker on the spine edge. Original yellow end pages, front end page has and name penciled which may be erased if desired. Pages are toned due to age and foxing (some heavy) is present some pages also show evidence of light staining or corner folds. Binding good, no hinge cracks, no torn or loose pages found. First edition thus. Frontispiece is steel engraving of the author and tissue guard is present and attached.

The spine is darkened and shows fading to the color as well. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues other than some pulling in spots. The original owner's signature is on the front end page, which is the only handwriting found in the book. There are no bookplates, no library markings, nothing torn. The interior pages are toned due to age and there is scattered smudge marks and foxing present.

Exterior shows fading on board edges and spine as well as edge/corner bumps. Interior binding is good, no hinge issues but front pastedown has a binders flaw where the lower left corner has paper folds and damage. No other issues noted. Front pastedown also has a bookplate from noted millionaire Charles N. Dietz of Omaha. The bottom of the bookplate has a pencil price from a different dealer. Remaining pages are good with no issues.

Hardcover with dust jacket. Limited edition of 5000 copies and signed by the author, of which this is copy 2896. DJ is spotted and toned with numerous edge chips and tears. Jacket has been housed in a protective sleeve for the last several decades. Tan cloth boards underneath are clean with only issue being some minor edge bumps and light spotting. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No personal signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting found other than when the author numbered and signed the limited edition. Paper is mildly toned due to age but pages are clean.

Akron, OH: The Saalfield Publishing Company, 1901. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG-. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, blue cloth boards with large decoration on front. The exterior shows some spotting and scuffing along with edge and corner bumps/wear. There is a small tear in the cloth near the upper left hinge area of the front board and the rear boards shows some minor bubbling. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues at boards. No signatures or bookplates present, no library markings. The only evidence of handwriting found in the book is in the upper right corner of the front end page where you can still see a faint indentation of or a price was once penciled and then later erased. Title page has a small tear along the top edge that measures less than one half of an inch and page 157-159 has some small tears and folds in the lower outside corner which was likely caused during the original binding process.
