Original printed orange paper overs boards, black cloth spine, large folding lithographed map (30 x 38 4/8 inches; 28 x 36 4/8 inches to the neat line), with original hand colour in outline, with the major battle sites indicated in red, and an inset map of southern Florida (one or two separations at folds, a bit toned). The detailed map, 'Perrine's New Topographical War Map of the Southern States,' shows the states north to include a good portion of Pennsylvania, west through Missouri, and south through most of Florida, with an inset of the southern part of Florida, with sites of battles and important events circled in red. One of 500 copies on Dutch handmade paper out of an edition totaling 550 copies. Bertram G. Goodhue designed the title page and all of the initials found on each page. The date on the wrapper spine is 1896 but Kraus calls for the date to be 1895. Near fine, some light foxing.
