Tucson, Arizona, U.S.A.: Western Imports Publishing & Trading Company - Boojum Books, 1991. First Edition Third Porinting . Trade Paperback. Very Good. 8 1/2" X 11. 89 Pages. Previous owner's name on title page. The revitalization of pottery-making among the Indians of the Southwest has increased demand for more information about potters and their art. Museums display Casas Grandes pottery, collectors cherish it, scholars study it, yet books available about this subject are few and in many cases outdated. The purpose of this book is to provide the general public with an up-to-date (1991) account of the pottery tradition of the Casas Grandes Valley. So much has happened in the last few years, we felt a book would be of immense value to scholars, collectors, dealers, students and anyone intrigued by the pottery of the Southwest and its exciting metamorphosis during the past century. To present the reader with an uninterrupted and unencumbered report on the status of modern pottery in…

Las Cruces, New Mexico: New Mexico State University - Agricultural Experiment Station - VCoopererative Extension Service, 1995. Revised September 1995 . Trade Paperback. Very Good. 5 1/2" x 8 1/2. 50 Pages. Stapled binding. This guide is intended to help homeowners and forest managers in identifying and controlling forest and ornamental tree pests. The guide focuses on insect and disease pests but also discusses natural and human-caused environmental problems. Many pest problems can be prevented by keeping trees health and vigorous. Tree pests are usually attracted to and do more damage to stressed, weakened trees. In forests, environmental stresses can sometimes be alleviated by thinning stands to reduce competition among trees. In urban landscapes, trees are often planted in areas where they would not grow naturally and thus may suffer from too much or too little moisture, soil compaction, alkalinity, air pollution, and exposure to sun and wind. In urban areas throughout New Mexico, conifers…

Phoenix, Arizona: Heard Museum of Anthropology and Primitive Art, 1967. Second Printing . Trade Paperback. Very Good. 8 1/2" X 11. 40 Pages. Staple Bound magazine size. Used book with minor wear to covers. No other defects noted. The art of basketry in the American Southwest is one of the oldest crafts known on the continent. By 500 A.D. the people known to archaeologists as the Anasazi were making fine coiled basketry with elaborate designs. Archaeological care and thoroughness have preserved an excellent record of this art form representing nearly 1500 years of prehistoric evidence of man's universal urge to beautify the things he makes, an esthetic drive that continues its uninterrupted course into contemporary time. Today the Hopi Indians of northern Arizona, descendants of the Anasazi, continue this basketry tradition in the form of beautiful coiled plaques of yucca fiber and a wicker-weave type made of wild current and rabbit brush. For those interested in acculturation studies this…

Brussels Sprout Press, 2022. Soft cover. Very Good. Book is clean with a square, tight binding and bright, white pages. Book has minor wear on the edges that is difficult to see in the scans. Mermaid Survival Rule Number 1: Stay away from intelligent women. Who are so my type. Fish are not great conversationalists. That is not why Niua sneaks aboard a research ship, or why she is tumbling around on legs, pretending she is not a mermaid, but years of living among uncommunicative sea life may explain why she is unwisely flirting with a marine scientist who is far too perceptive--and far too female--for Niua's safety. She needs to focus, but Ms. "Why Aren't You on the Passenger List?" keeps distracting her. In the best possible way. She is in over her head, and she does not have time to waste. She has a shipwreck to find, a treasure to reclaim, and a secret to protect. Before mermaids disappear forever.

Though this dubious claim to fame has never been publicized in the manner of the exploits of the Jameses, the Daltons or the Wild Bunch, his saga is more noteworthy than that of any appearing upon the outlaw scene, past or present. If for no other reason, his name will live as the central figure in the infamous Kansas City Union Station Massacre. She maintained the largest collection of European art in America. She and her husband counted the George Washingtons as relatives and seemed to know everyone in Washington and Maryland society.
