Description:
London: Lawrence & Wishart, 2008. 1st Edition . Soft cover. Good Plus. First edition. Paperback. 21.5 × 14cm, 288pp. Signed and dedicated by Beatrix Campbell to the title page. Published ten years after the Good Friday Agreement, this book is about the people, ideas and movements that created it. But it is also about its limits; how the Agreement's promise was frequently betrayed by an establishment that found it difficult to give up its dominance. Campbell documents the forces strongly resisting change, including those inside the police, military and secret services whose refusal to repudiate their long history of collusion prevented them from contributing to peace-making. Gender is woven into the texture of this story - from the men who sought to dominate the streets to the women who fought for the equality agenda. Condition: A good solid copy, with some light creasing to the spine and a little wear to the covers.

Description:
Toronto & Oxford: Dundern Press, 1997. 1st Edition . Soft cover. Near Fine. First edition. Paperback, 23 × 15cm, 432pp. In 1897, Archibald Constable & Company published a novel by the unheralded Bram Stoker. That novel, Dracula, has gone on to become perhaps the most influential novel of all time. To commemorate the centennial of that great novel, Carol Margaret Davison has brought together this collection of essays by some of the world's leading scholars. The essays analyze Stoker's original novel and celebrate its legacy in popular culture. The continuing presence of Dracula and vampire fiction and films provides proof that, as Davison writes, Dracula is "alive and sucking." From the preface: "Dracula is a Gothic mandala, a vast design in which multiple reflections of the elements of the genre are configured in elegant sets of symmetries. It is also a sort of lens, bringing focus and compression to diverse Gothic motifs, including not only vampirism but… Read More
