Condition is VERY GOOD+ : light edgewear to covers, a crease to top corner of vol. II, owner label inside front cover of vol. II. A nice copy of this set.

GOOD / no jacket: ex-library (label on fep, a few date stamps on fep, stamp on title page, but no pocket or spine label); edgewear at corners and spine head and tail, lt. rubbing at edges, tissue guard for frontis is creased with edgewear; hinge loose (book is a bit shaken but all intact); interior pages are clean with only gentle wear.

Chapman writes in his preface that "this compilation is addressed to Austenians in general rather than the fastidious collector, who is already provided for, on a grand scale, by Dr. Geoffrey Keynes's "Bibliography" of 1929...I have included all the editions of the novels before 1890" and he includes the criticism and exegesis of this century that "seem to deserve record;" "a few corrections have been made in this second edition and the Addenda has been enlarged." According to Gilson M856, 1000 copies were printed, reprinted lithographically from corrected sheets of the 1st edition.

Drawn entirely from the collection of James Blewitt, it ranges from English delft ware of the reign of Charles II to mass-produced wares made to mark the most recent royal jubilee, that of George V in 1935. Oblong 24mo, stapled wraps, 26 pages of text, pages of b/w photographs of various items on glossy paper, color photographs on both covers. Condition is VERY GOOD with light rubbing to cover edges, a crease to front cover and corner crease to rear cover.

Condition is GOOD- with the covers taped at spine, faint soiling to front cover, a few pages are detaching, otherwise quite a terrific piece of early New England education. Ginn & Co. has a few advertisements in the rear.

VERY GOOD- / no jacket: light rubbing to spine extremities and corners, gilt lettering on spine slightly dulled, pictorial paste-on has a few scratches at the edges, first signature is slightly loose with half-title detaching, owner inscribed on first blank page otherwise book is clean throughout, all the lovely and bright Smith plates are present with tissue guards. A nice copy despite these few flaws.
