NY: Knopf, 1947. First Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. First edition/first printing of Cain's 1947 backwoods noir novel with an interesting intro by the author. When we checked on the book's condition, we found two dust jackets, one covered by the other, which we have included in the photos. One is the Knpf first edition version and the one inside it is the Grossett reprint version which appears to have been cut down from possibly a library copy of the book. Both are in very good condition; the book itself is near fine with partially erased notations on the ffep - probably from previous booksellers. Take a look - which version of the cover do you prefer? All of our first editions are first printings unless otherwise noted. Dustwrappers are protected with clear archival wraps and we pack each book like it's a Tiffany egg.
