London: Jonathan Cape, 1969. First UK edition. Hardcover. Fine/very fine. An odd collection of tales about the creation of the universe and of human beings. Quirky fun. Calvino is one of the European Magic Realists who are generally treated as "too good to be science fiction". Ah well. This is a very nice copy, with the only notable flaw being a discreet previous owner's name and date/place of purchase on the front free endpaper. Top edge stained blue, jacket slightly sunfaded on spine (unclipped). A clean, nice copy of a modern classic. TW from WFW

Waller's second (and final) book under the Cody pseudonym. A very scarce supernatural thriller. This is as nice a copy as one could want: the unclipped jacket is clean and sharp, with very tiny nicks on the spine bottom and upper right corner, in a new jacket-protector. The spine is bumped at the top and bottom;the front corners are very crisp. The book is signed on the front free endpaper both as C. S. Cody (looks as if it was written with his non-dominant hand) and, below that. "alias, with love. Les Waller." No name on the inscription; this is from the collection of a family friend. Photos are of the actual book (hey, good luck finding a stock photo for this one!). First Edition stated on verso of title page, no indication of later printings. A reasonable copy of this practical book on rifle use. Moderately scarce in jacket. Green cloth, gold titles and blind-stamped image of a rifleman on the fron cover; jacket edge-worn and unclipped. Smoke-staining on top edge from a 1968 fire. This copy belonged to my father and has his signature and date of purchase (1934) on the front free endpaper. More pictures available on request.
