It comes from a private college library and library markings are on the rear endpaper, with a tucked-in library card having only one date, January, 1935. The book is tightly bound in a library binding. The top spine cloth is rubbed, and the bottom spine cloth is missing about 3/4 of an inch. (Click on photo). This Ninth Edition was published in 1864. The book includes an Index of Authors and an Index according to subject matter. The rebinder has mixed up the order of some of the Index pages, six of which are edge-taped and one of which is missing a corner.
