Some of the Highlights of this Revised Edition : Completely New DXing Chapter by K5FUV; Brand New Chapter on the Internet by WA1LOU; Extensively Revised SWL Chapter by W4CP; Updated Operating and Reference Information on Contests, Satellites, APRS, VHF/UFH -- and much more. Book is in very good condition, but cover has moderate wear. In addition to the normal edge wear and rubbing at stress points, the front lower corner has a hard crease and is curled. The front and back cover have surface smudging and both show impressions when tipped to the light. On the front, the impression is of writing, someone using the book to write on, and on the back, it is a series of marks, like chicken scratch marks, again someone using the book for a desk. The marks are impressions only. The interior of the book is clean and the binding is tight.

Center Point Large Print, 2010. Hardcover. Very Good +/very good +. Casting Off: 1. Ending a knitted work. 2. Releasing lines holding a boat to its mooring. 3. Letting go... On a tiny island off the west coast of Ireland, the fishermen's handmade sweaters tell a story. Each is unique-feelings stitched into rows, memories into patterns. It is here that Rebecca Moray comes to research a book on Irish knitting. With her daughter, Rowan, accompanying her, she hopes to lose herself in the history of the island and forget her own painful past. Soon, the townsfolk's warm embrace wraps Rebecca and Rowan in a world of friendship, laughter, and love. And it is here that young Rowan befriends Sean Morahan, a cantankerous old fisherman, despite his attempts to scare her off. As Rebecca watches her daughter interact with Morahan, she recognizes in his eyes a look that speaks of a dark knowledge not unlike her own. And when current storms threaten to resurrect old ones, Morahan… Read More

Description:
Perseus Books Group / Da Capo Press, 1995. Paperback. Near Fine. This De Capo Press paperback edition of Hannibal is an unabridged republication of the edition first published in Boston in 1891. "It was an excellent idea to reintroduce Americans to this 104-year-old book, which has never been bettered. It is called Hannibal and says a lot about him, but it is also a story of Roman-Carthaginian relations from the beginning--a valuable enterprise, since the losing side hardly ever gets a fair deal from writers. As for Hannibal himself, Theodore Ayrault Dodge tackles the extraordinary fact that in spite of the shattering victories of this marvelous general in the Second Punic War, he never succeeded in conquering Rome. Read this book and it is possible to see why." -- Michael Grant. Book is near fine, with little edge wear, but careless handling has created a curve to the book. There is a small faint stain to leading page block. The book doesn't… Read More

Description:
New York: Minotaur Books, 2009. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good +/good +. Even with some of the toughest hombres and nastiest outlaws roaming the Southwest, bestselling author James D. Doss’s seven-foot-tall rancher and sometime tribal investigator Charlie Moon does a fair job on the side of the good guys. So it’s no surprise that he gets the call when the widow Loyola Montoya starts making a fuss about witches. Witches? She swears there’s a whole midnight brood lurking in the woods just off her property, mocking her with lewd songs and harassing her with the carcasses of dead animals. When no one takes her seriously—she has been known to cry wolf from time to time—she takes matters into her own hands, with disastrous results. By the time Charlie arrives, it’s too late to save her, and while he knows he can’t bring her back, that doesn’t mean he can’t help the widow get her revenge after all. Told in Doss’s whimsical style, The Widow’s Revenge is a wonderfully tall tale… Read More

Description:
New York: Clarkson Potter, 1994. Stated First Edition. Hardcover. Fine/very good. Druse (The Natural Shade Garden) and Roach, the gardening editor for Newsday , survey gardens all over the United States that focus on native plants; together, they "traveled around the country, seeking instruction not just from nature's aesthetic side, but from the actual workings of the nation's dwindling reserve of wild places." The result, endowed with the scrupulously detailed and decidedly deep tones of Druse's photographs, introduces--and urges--appealing ideas into American gardens. There is, for example, the prairie simplicity of Dick and Marsha Krueger's garden in Wisconsin, where a conventional lawn gave way, in part, to wildflowers. By contrast, a visit to the Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge Island, Wash., reveals "grandeur in decay"--the abandon of spreading moss on emergent tree roots, and deer fern bulging up from shady spots. The authors also scope out desert gardens in… Read More
