Three years after this directory was published, in 1914, Dallas became the seat of the 11th Federal Reserve District. Southern Methodist University was founded in 1911, though didn't open its doors until a few years later. Appropriately featured on the front cover is R.H. Dearing & Sons artesian and oil well contractors, Dallas becoming a center of the oil boom in the years following. Dallas directories from this time period are uncommon.
