It describes the production of sugars and sirups from six different types of plants." Although written for children, the text is actually at a fairly high level. About fair to good (3 1/2 inch vertical tear, front cover near spine; chip, upper fore-edge corner of both front and back covers, about 1 inch in greatest dimension; one page repaired with yellowing tape, no loss of text; otherwise, pages clean and binding tight).
