Minor extremity wear. Jacket has edge chipping along top of both panels, a 1" x 1/2" chip along spine near head, closed tear along lower joint fold, chips to fore corner tips.. Three lectures delivered by Eliot at the University of Virginia in 1933--The Page-Barbour Lectures that year. He asserts that the weakness of modern literature is a religious weakness. <br /> <br /> This copy is signed and dated 22 May 1947 by Eliot on the title page.

Jacket has a few chips at extremities and browning to spine.. A scarce drinking guide, published the year Prohibition was repealed. Separate sections for beer, wine, and cocktails with mixing instructions for the latter. Particular attention is also given to what foods should be served with each kind of drink, with simple directions for canapes, relishes, spreads, and supper dishes. A note on the front jacket flap describes the book's binding as "waterproof and, within reason, liquor proof.

Black and white photograph. 1931 Walker Evans photograph, sometimes known as "Bed and Stove, Truro, Massachusetts," printed by Evans in 1941 for the exhibition "American Photographs at $10" at The Museum of Modern Art in New York. SIGNED twice on the mount by Evans. <br /> <br /> The exhibition was aimed at promoting photography as an art form to the general American public, and helping photographers to sell their work as such.
