Brattleboro: the author, 1849. First edition. 432pp. Original 12 mo cloth(spine goldstamped). John Humphrey Noyes was the founder of this sect which was the precursor of the Oneida Community. Noyeists were revivalists more than socialists, and so they continued till after their transfer to central New York. Hinds: American Communities pp. 144-172. When Noyes deserted his followers, Rev. Eastman had had enough. When the excitement died down, he published this rare expose.
