There were also 940 copies seen into wrappers. The BOOK is in Fine condition. The book has been Signed by the Author to the title page: 'Patrick Leigh Fermor ( with best wishes)'. The text of a letter addressed to Oxford professor Constantine Trypanis (in English and Greek) about the contemporary Cretan poet and resistance hero George Psychoundakis who translated both the Illiad and The Odyssey into his local Cretan Dialect. Psychoundakis was also the author of 'The Cretan runner', a memoir of the Cretan occupation which Leigh Fermor had translated and provided the introduction. The gilt titling remains very bright on the spine. The text block is lightly toned. There is a mild production crease on the main text block edge.
