--- Geneviève Fauconnier (1886-1969) est une romancière du sud charentais, l'une des représentantes les plus sensibles de ce qu'on a appelé le Groupe de Barbezieux. En 1933, elle obtint le prix Femina pour son roman Claude. Le roman Pastorale, ainsi que Christine et les Micocouliers devaient faire partie d'une œuvre, composées de quatre romans, intitulée La Joie parfaite. Ils portaient les titres Pastorale, Andante, Quasi una fantasia et Finale.
