Singapore, prominent among Asian countries, has an undeniably awe-inspiring aura. This magnificent volume of rare depth and precision provides the reader with Singapore's history as seen through the eye of most famous landmark, Raffles Hotel. The book's 374 pages are profusely illustrated with vintage B&W, sepia tone and full-color historic photographs, drawings and paintings (many full or double-page) with accompanying descriptive captions. It is a splendid glimpse into and panoramic view of the fascinating island emerging from a past of poverty and to "a glittering city-state" handling half of the world's rubber and tin supplies.
