Description:
French. Tight, square spine. Clean, unmarked interior except for a former owner inscription to the half-title. Some light toning to the wraps, very gentle edge-wear, and a faint former owner stamps to the top edge. Founded in 1935, Le Seuil is notable for publishing the first edition of Fanon's seminal first book in 1952; this chic little edition was issued nearly two decades later as part of the house's Points series. Fanon drafted the work as his dissertation, which was rejected while he was a student at Lyon, where he attended lectures by Merleau-Ponty and endured ongoing racism. The book, which discusses the sinister effects colonialism and racism have on language, is known for its resounding challenge to Descartes: 'O my body, make of me a man who always questions!' 188 pp.

Tight, square, uncreased spine. Clean, unmarked interior. Very little shelf-wear. Black Sparrow Press began posthumously publishing Fante's then out-of-print works in the late 1970s, at the suggestion of house favorite Charles Bukowski ('Fante was my god,' he said), who had happened upon the writer's work in the LA Public Library. The Road to Los Angeles, Fante's first novel and chronologically the second in the Arturo Bandini saga, went unpublished until 1985. Signature BSP matte cover and industry-reshaping format; designed by the press's untrained virtuoso Barbara Martin. 164 pp.

Spine is tight, but has a slight lean, as well as some sunning and creasing. Clean, unmarked interior. Areas of light edge-wear and light to moderate soiling to the covers. Incredible cover to this mass-market edition, featuring art by a young Ron Chereskin before he switched careers to menswear design, gaining recognition for his ties and cotton sweaters, as well as the infamous 'disco shirt'. During his brief life, Fariña associated with Bob Dylan and Thomas Pynchon and formed a folk duo with Joan Baez's younger sister, Mimi, before dying tragically as a passenger in a motorcycle accident in Monterey County, California, when the driver tore through a barbwire fence at 90 miles per hour. 269 pp. Featured Rare & Collectible.

Description:
Tight, square spine. Clean, unmarked interior. Very little shelf-wear to the book. Some edge-wear and very subtle rubbing to the jacket. Jacket design by John Sposato. Theatre photos by Gerry Goodstein. The famously 'double-voiced' Fierstein made his acting debut in Andy Warhol's Pork in 1971 at Ellen Stewart's La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club; seven years later the same venue produced the actor/playwright's International Stud, the first act of what would eventually become Torch Song Trilogy, the play the New York Times went on to call a 'sincere but sentimentalized view of transvestite extremes.' This edition was designed by Fierstein, who studied painting at Pratt, and his author photo is by camp portraitist Kenn Duncan, who also took memorable shots of Baryshnikov, Eartha Kitt, Joe Dallesandro, Joan Rivers, Lily Tomlin, and many others. 149 pp.

Description:
Tight, square, uncreased spine. Clean, unmarked interior except for a former owner stamp to the inside front cover. Areas of rubbing to the covers, but no other notable wear. Hard to find in such nice shape. Agel (producer) and Fiore (designer) are the same creative team behind The Medium Is the Massage, and this unique presentation of Fuller's techno-utopian ideals is in some ways even more adventurous than the better-known McLuhan book. Although Fiore was trained in traditional bookmaking techniques, including papermaking and hand lettering, he later began engaging in design experiments that presaged the relentless but often choppy information flow of the internet. This book is a great example an aphoristic barrage, accessed at any point, expressing Fuller's concept of dymaxion (a portmanteau of the words dynamic, maximum, and tension): 'I seem to be a verb, an evolutionary process an integral function of the universe. ' Two fragmentary texts, one printed in black and the other in green, run counter… Read More
