Adventure, prophecy, and the repeatedly articulated theory that Aryans and Mongoloids are natural enemies with Aryans superior (Bleiler, 836). Cloth slightly worn, bump to top edge, a few white marks of soiling to front board; corner lacking from pgs 13/14 (but not affecting text), some very light penciled marginalia to a few pages; lacking the dust jacket. Caracas: F.I.J.L., 1962. First edition. A small format anti-Franco booklet written by the "Marco Polo of Anarchism," Germinal Gracia, writing under one of his pseudonyms. Gracia presents an objective analysis of Spain under the Franco regime to demonstrate the situation for the student, immigrant, worker, and peasant. As a teenager Gracia (1919-1991) fought as a member of the C.N.T.-F.A.I. during the Spanish Civil War and continued his anti-Franco activities from Spain & France in the 1940s. He moved to Venezuela in 1948 and became a peripatetic writer issuing dozens of booklets and periodicals under a variety of pseudonyms. He remained a lifelong anarchist. Natchez, Miss: Printed by Tom L. Ketchings Co, 1942. A fold-out brochure advertising the 1942 Natchez Pilgrimage, a tour of antebellum houses in Natchez, Mississippi, which began in 1932 under the aegis of the Pilgrimage Garden Club. Evening activities included the Confederate Ball Tableaux and the singing of Negro spirituals in "an old time Negro church." The brochure features photographs and descriptions of the houses on the tour, as well as a photo of the queen of the 1941 Confederate Ball. Offset printed on a glossy 17" x 12" sheet, folded, photographs, illustration. Light wear, near fine.

New York: American Council of Christian Churches, 1950. Revised. 12mo; plain, stapled wrappers, 24 pp. First published in 1948 by the Fundamentalist pastor, Garman accuses the Federal Council of anti-Americanism, near-Communism, and of being anti-Christian. The Federal Council (or National Council of the Churches of Christ) became a frequent target of Christian Fundamentalists and the anti-Communist right for its social justice mission and connections with civil rights organizations. A final edition was published in 1957 and expanded to 30 pp. Currently (Aug., 2018), no copies of any edition in commerce.

[Philadelphia]: [National Conference of Black Social Workers], 1969. The first National Conference of Black Social Workers (later the National Association of Black Social Workers) was held on February 21-23, 1969, at Bright Hope Baptist Church (12th & Columbia Ave.) in, what the New York Times called "the heart of North Philadelphia's slums." Featured speakers included Drs. Andrew Billingsley and Alvin Pouissaint who decried the Moynihan Report, which warned of the increasing matriarchal structure of the black family, and called for a Black Renaissance that would foster community development, oppose "anti-blackism" and celebrate the richness of black culture. Edinburgh: The Mankind Quarterly, 1966. An offprint from The Mankind Quarterly reprinting an article by the journal's founder Robert Gayre in which he analyzes the current state of racial conflict around the world. Gayre claims that this conflict is exacerbated by racial equalitarians and Communists who ignore irreconcilable racial differences in their quest for forced integration. Stapled wrappers, 21 p. A fine copy.

London: Britons Publishing Society, 1961. First printing. This booklet combines a lecture given by George at Dartmouth College in 1956 (Human Progress and the Race Problem) and his pamphlet, "Race, Heredity and Civilization." The publisher's forward addresses a British audience and the "major colour problem in Britain." George's consistent thesis was that biological racial differences exist, that racial separation is the best way to isolate and promote these differences, and that integration of the races will ultimately lead to a breed of man incapable of maintaining a viable civilization. Wesley Critz George was a notable UNC-Chapel Hill professor, but an indefatigable segregationist and white supremacist who was the driving force behind the Patriots of North Carolina, a group committed to resisting school desegregation. Woodhaven, N. Y.: Manyland Books, Inc, 1970. First Edition. A study of the political problems confronting the famous German conductor, which prevented his appearance in this country after 1927. Hitherto unpublished documents from Wilhelm Furtwängler files, including a remarkable correspondence with Thomas Mann, make this book a valuable commentary on a troubled period of recent European history" (from the jacket flap). Thought outspokenly anti-Nazi, Furtwängler was accused by some critics of being a tool of the Nazi Party. Blue cloth boards stamped in gilt to spine, 148 p. photo plates, dust jacket. A single issue of the Britons newsletter featuring a short article on the creation of a federated European Army (NATO?) and Colin Jordan's Newsview column on the growing drug trade at the hands of blacks in London. The first issue of "Free Britain" appeared in 1949 as a weekly, although by 1952 it was being issued erratically. Melbourne: Victorian Chinese National Salvation Association, 1955. First edition. 8vo; stapled, yellow wrappers, 15, [1] pp. Very light rubbing, faint foxing to lower front wrapper, about Near Fine. Five copies in WorldCat, all in Australian institutions. Maintains that Communism has "initiated the gospel of peaceful co-existence" and counters with a policy of "peaceful aggression." This policy should provide moral support to Free China, court the Chinese in SE Asia, and mobilize the spiritual potential of SE Asia.

Englewood, Colorado: Kenneth Goff, [196-]. One of a number of editions of this widely circulated right wing pamphlet warning of the Communist use of psychopolitics to enslave Americans through brainwashing and mental health propaganda. This edition was published and distributed by ex-Communist Party member turned far right crusader, Kenneth Goff, who begins the pamphlet with an editorial note. This is followed by Beria's address to U.S. students at Lenin Univ. on the use of psychopolitics to pacify the American populace and then the Communist Party's manual on psychopolitics, defined as the "art and science of asserting and maintaining dominion over the thoughts and loyalties of individuals, officers, bureaus, and masses, and the effecting of the conquest of enemy nations through ‘mental healing'." Stapled yellow wrappers (8 ½" x 5 ½"), 64 p. A fine copy.

Wichita, Kansas: Defender Publications, 1955. First edition. A two-part article written by Kenneth Goff and initially published in the Sept. and Oct. 1955 issues of Gerald Winrod's "Defender" magazine. Goff describes the Talmud as the "filthiest rot ever put into human language" and decries its influence over the Jewish people, and increasingly, over American Gentile culture. He then discusses the disproportionate Jewish influence in the media and political institutions and accuses Jews of fomenting racial strife. A particularly strident attack, but not atypical for Goff or the standard fare published by Winrod. Stapled wrappers (3 ¼" x 8 ½"), 16 pp. A Fine copy. Only three copies of this first edition in OCLC (Michigan, Michigan State, and Univ. of Colorado). Scarce.

Englewood, Colorado: Soldiers of the Cross, 1963. A single issue of Kenneth Goff's right wing magazine. This issue features an editorial by Goff, part I of a lengthy article by his wife on her Socialist upbringing ("Up from the Red Miry Clay"), "Why Communist Cuba" (from "The Militant Truth), "The International Banker" by Americanus, "Is There Faith in the Army of the Lord" by Larry Krause, the continuation of "Testimony of Oliver Kenneth Goff" before Congress (Goff was originally a Communist Party member before testifying against the Party and becoming a right wing Christian). Notably, this issue features an ad for Francis Parker Yockey's book Imperium published by Willis Carto's Noontide Press. Stapled, glossy wrappers (8 ¼" x 11 ½"), 16 p., illus. London and Glasgow: Art and Educational Publishers Ltd, 1948. First edition. 12mo. Green cloth, silver-stamped spine. The last novel written by East End chronicler and Jewish proletariat writer, Willy Goldman (1910-2009), best known for his autobiographical East End My Cradle. This copy owned by Morris Schappes (1907-2004), one-time Communist Party member and long-time editor of Jewish Currents. Goldman, who joined the Young Communists in his youth, became disillusioned with communism long before Schappes did, but neither man ever strayed too far from their secular, Jewish-Marxist heritage. Although there is no documenting evidence to suggest the men knew each other or corresponded, a nice association item nonetheless. A Fine book with Schappes name penned to the front pastedown and gift notation at lower hinge in a Very Good, unclipped dust jacket, which is rubbed and beginning to split at rear flap fold and with some chipping at spine ends.
