NY: Harcourt, Brace & Company; (1955). First Edition . Soft cover. Advance reading copy of the author's first book, very good in original printed wraps. The white spine is a little darkened and has some wrinkling in the paper (the spine is unprinted). There is a separation about 1" long at the top of the front gutter betweeen the front panel and the spine. The foredge of the page block has two very faint stains running horizontally across the block, which appear to be very minor dampstains. The top front corner of the book is bumped, affecting about the first quarter of the book. "Advance Reading Copy" stamped near bottom of front endpaper. Even with the defects noted, a very nice copy, tight and square, of this noted debut novel in a scarce advance state. Housed in a custom made, cloth covered slipcase.

Racine, WI: Whitman Publishing Co.; (1934). First Edition . Hardcover. Very good+ with no dust jacket. Red illustrated boards with a black spine, nice illustration of the bear on the front board in yellow, brown and green. the covers are just slightly worn and soiled, but square and complete. The interior pages are uniformly tanned, but clean with no marking anywhere in or on the book. Illustrations by Bess Livings.

NY: Macmillan, 1911. First Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. Near fine in a very good- dust jacket. Very slight fading to lilac cloth at top of spine where jacket is chipped. Beautiful art nouveau floral cover design by George Wharton Edwards (with his initials near bottom of front board). The jacket has the same designs in lilac on white as the front board, with the lilac on the jacket spine faded to near invisibility. There are also chips on both panels, slight loss at edges, and a little tape reinforcement to the jacket. Top edge of pages is bright gilt; no names or other marking in the book. Scarce in the jacket.

(NY): Scribner; (1997). First Edition . Soft cover. Uncorrected proof copy, fine in glossy wraps. Interestingly, the author's name is spelled "Gallager" on the front cover of this proof copy.

San Antonio: Naylor Company; (1471. First Edition . Hardcover. Very good in a very good dust jacket. First 30 or so pages have light crease; front hinge just barely exposed, but still tight. Bookplate on front pastedown. The jacket has some minor chips at spine end and edges. A somewhat humorous and satirical novel set in the first half of the 20th century, mainly in Southwest Texas. Signed by the author on publisher's tipped in page prior to title page.

(NY): Viking; (1991). First Edition . Hardcover. First US edition, very good in a very good dust jacket. The book is cracked at the hinge in the center photo section, causing one photo to be partially detached. The book lays flat, and is still pretty tight. The jacket is sunned on the spine and edges of the front panel. The author and her husband. Paolo, moved to Kenya and she ultimately established a 900,000 acre property; but in the process lost her husband, and her son Emanuele, to the harsh conditions in Kenya. Laid in is a printed card on heavy cardstock that says "In memory of Paolo and Emanuele".

Owner's signature and a date stamp (APR 3 1925) on the front endpaper. Introduction by George P. Baker, contains 6 plays; 469 pages.

First edition (no statement of printing on the copyright page) of the author's first book, very good with most of front panel of jacket glued neatly to the front endpaper. A little light wear to the boards; small nick in cloth at top of spine.Yellow and dark blue boards with outline of wings on front board and spine. An anecdotal history of aviation, with many b&w photos and other illustrations; 123 pages. No names or other markings in the book.

Buenos Aires: Editorial Losada; (1944). 1st Edition . Hardcover. First four volumes are fourth printings, volumes five and six are third printings, and volume seven is a second printing. The first edition was issued in 1938, the year after Garcia Lorca's death. All are in green cloth with gilt decoration on front board and gilt lettering and borders on spines. The spines are a little sunned. All volumes have a white silk marker ribbon bound in. All copies are generally very good or better. with browning paper consistently throughout all volumes. Some corner bumps, but generally all volumes are tight and square, with no names or other markings in the books. A nice set of the preferred Buenos Aires edition of the author's complete works. Text in all books is completely in Spanish.

Includes Yerma, If Five Years Pass, Dona Rosita, Don Perlimplin, and The Shoemaker's Prodigious Wife.

The mailing envelope is slightly soiled and was never mailed. Includes photographs of the interior of the bank, some of which show the utilization of the brands as a decor motif in the dining rooms. Published in the mid 1950's, with the material taken from "Texas Cattle Brands" edited by Gus Ford in 1936.

Black cloth with red lettering on the spine and front board. Jacket flaps were glued to the pastedowns, and some residue paper is present from their removal. There is also the paper residue of a bookplate or some other glued paper on the front endpaper. There are no library markings anywhere in or on the book. Some wear to black cloth at spine ends and corners, and the red topstain is a little unevenly faded. Some of the internal pages have areas of soiling. According to the list of prior Perry Mason titles at the front of the boom, this is the ninth title in the series.
