A tiny amount of fading to the spine tips, lower edges and corners. Mild pushing at the spine ends. Light toning to the text-block and a hint of toning to the extreme page edges. Free from inscriptions and erasures. The scarce WRAPPER is neatly clipped to the flaps and is in Very Good++ condition. The spine ends and upper corners are a little chipped and rubbed. The spine is toned and the wrapper is slightly spotted. A few small closed tears to the rear upper spine fold and to the front upper and lower rear edges. Mild edge-wear with a little rubbing to the folds more-so to the lower front spine. A slight lean with some toning to the page edges. The binding remains tight. Free from inscriptions and erasures. The book is protected in a removable Mylar archival cover. Radclyffe Hall has contributed an article ' American Literature In England' on pages 311-315. Loosely inserted is a two page signed H/W letter (on the author's personal headed paper) dated May 8th 1927 from Radclyffe Hall to Mr Adcock. The extremities are a little bumped and rubbed. The text block is very lightly toned and dusty with offsetting to the map endpapers. The WRAPPER is complete and is in near Fine condition. It is a little nicked and creased to the edges with minor toning to the spine. The un-cropped portrait of the author (after E.O. Hoppes) is framed and is facing left. Accompanied by the equally scarce second impression, published in March 1928, the same month as the first, with the cropped portrait of Hardy facing right. The edition was limited to 250 signed, numbered copies in total - 200 regular and 50 de luxe copies. This is one of the scarcer fifty Deluxe copies produced on handmade paper, Signed and Numbered in Roman numerals (number XV111) by Heaney and with his handwritten quote from the poem ''Saw Music''. Two poems and an essay written by Seamus Heaney in memory of Czeslaw Milosz, the Polish Nobel Laureate. Apart from a little toning to the text-block and the extreme page edges, the book is free from inscriptions and is in exceptional condition for its age. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ or better condition. A hint of fading and toning too the spine but far less than usually encountered. A 4 cm closed tear to the lower front spine fold. A few small nicks and light age related markings. The wrapper looks very striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. 12 striking B/W wood-engravings, one for each month, and a title-page vignette, by Eric Ravilious.
