Kraus published his fine catalogues in editions of 800 to 1500 copies, and are indispensable to the collector, scholar, library. This is a particularly handsome one, with illustrations of the most elegant French bindings, such as an original XVI century binding in crimson morocco, brilliantly and richly gilt, (P 40), another, a Grolier binding decorated in the technique of gold-powdering (P 124) and numerous others. 2 1/2 inches of covering at edges of head of spine have straight tears repaired, a few small stains to back covers. Internally fine, thus a Near Fine copy.. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket.
