Ms. Henry wrote 59 books about horses, and won a Newberry Award for King of the Wind in 1948. She often teamed up with Wesley Dennis as her illustrator. This is a very good copy in excellent condition.

A classic and favorite of Charlotte Mason homeschoolers, it was first written and used within the Calvert School, a school used by many missionary families who used this curriculum when living abroad. It has become a favorite of the Charlotte Mason method, since it relies heavily on the child's imagination to paint of picture of the world internally first, before relying on the concrete usage of maps and globes. An ex-library book with call letters still on the spine, this book was gently used. It is a re-production of the 1906 classic by Edith Holden, a well-known naturalist. She was famous for her notebooks, and even illustrated children's books; her family went looking for her after she missed dinner one night, and sadly discovered that she had drowned while walking near the Thames River.
