Bound in full tan "flame" leather. Spine with five bands and elaborate gilt decoration to compartments and olive title label. A number of full page engravings throughout.
CONDITION
Binding is in good condition with boards firmly attached with strong hinges, very slight cracking to upper one inch of front board. There is occasional wear and scuffs to extremities with some minor bumping to corners. Gilt work very clean and bright. Internally the pages are in good clean uniform condition throughout although with just an occasional spot to end-papers. No inscriptions.

Spine with three gilt-decorated raised bands in an "arts & crafts" style with glit-boxed compartments, gilt motifs and russet-brown title label. Marbled end-papers and paste-downs. Top page edges in gilt.
A number of tissue-guarded wonderful colour illustrations plus other illustrations throughout.
CONDITION
The binding is in very good condition and holding very firm. Boards and spine exhibit a few minor scuffs and surface scratches with some wear and small losses of leather to corners and top edges. Beautifully bound by Oxford (Bumpus) Bindings in full tan grained calf. Spine with five raised bands with and title in gilt to compartment. Very elaborate inner gilt dentelles. Marbled end-papers and paste-downs. Tissue-guarded portrait frontispiece to title page verso. All page edges in gilt.
CONDITION
In overall extremely good condition. The book almost seems unread. The binding is very firm and strong. A few very light surface scratches to binding, a small linear stain to front hinge, and two very small nicks to rear board.

Good condition overall with binding holding nice and firm. A few surface scratches and marks with some knocks to boards and some small losses and nibbles of leather to edges, and bumping to corners. Internally the pages are largely clean with just the odd foxing patch and spot, and a little grubbiness to end-papers and paste-downs. Neat ink inscription dated 1875 to front end-paper.
