Antiqua typefaces are those designed between about 1470 and 1600, specifically those by Nicolas Jenson and the Aldine roman commissioned by Aldus Manutius and cut by Francesco Griffo. Antiqua letterforms were modelled on a synthesis of Roman inscriptional capitals and Carolingian writing. Illustrated b/w dust jacket with white lettering on the front cover, black lettering on the spine. Brown cloth over grey textured paper boards, with grey lettering on the front cover and black lettering on the spine. Cover illustration by Frantisek Maly. Photo-illustrated frontispiece. The book is a text and photographic documentation of the German occupation of Moravia (Czechoslovakia) during WWII. The first section of the work includes historical and personal accounts of the period, while the second section of the book contains a total of 60 plates of photographic reproductions on glossy paper. The subjects of the photos include German governmental buildings, German-controlled institutions and detention centers. Text in Czech.
