Jacke t has a ½”x2” open tear and several smaller tears along top front; similar tears on back cover and a 1”x3/4” open tear at bottom of spine. Some edgewear to jacket along spine and lower e dge. Suspense thriller taking place in one evening, young couple races against the clock to find a murderer and lest they be accus ed of the crime. Subject for 1946 Film Noir classic of the same n ame starring Susan Hayward and Paul Lukas. .

CONDITION: VERY GOOD. A particularly bright and clean copy of a scarce Soviet children's book. None online; none in WorldCat. We have located one auction record in 2010 for the second edition [1930], by Russian auction house, Imperia.
Interior is near fine with just a hint of toning typical to newsprint. Minor fading to outer covers, with just a hint of rubbing to spine and corners. Light dampstain inside front cover, not affecting the text block.
