Description:
[Cawnpore]: (n. p.), (n. d.). Wraps. Very Good. 6-1/4" x 4-3/4". 7, [1, blank] pp. Circa 1920s? Green wrappers printed in black. Light bumping and wear to edges, a clean, sound copy. Transliterated Hindi text. A cursory search for Mrs. Birkett in missionary histories reveals references to the C. M. S. Bhil Mission, a medical mission in Gujarat. It is unclear if this is the same Mrs. Birkett, and if this pamphlet was therefore distributed as widely as the disparate locations would suggestions. Given the lack of publication information and the prices listed on the cover ("2 copies for 1 pice...10 Ans. per 100"), we presume it was printed in quantity. Scarce, nevertheless: we find none in the trade and no institutional holdings in OCLC and Copac.
