Multivolume (5) set. In German, published in Berlin in 1908. A translation: The Complete Works of Henrik Ibsen, total output in five volumes. It also notes: einzige autorisierte deutsche ausgabe, in other words, Only Authorized German Edition. Minor shelf wear, still in excellent shape after 113 years. The first volume begins with a two page forward and a 183 page introduction, which probably would be interesting if only I read German. This is a collector's item and must be rather rare, as I was unable to find anything exactly like this offered for sale at any of my website sources. Printed in Germany in 1908, you have to imagine that two World Wars would have eliminated most of the copies that stayed over there.The five volume set weighs in excess of seven pounds; the list price includes excess shipping costs.

We have here a 12-volume set of the complete works of Henrik Ibsen, translated into English, published in 1908. All show very little wear other than being quite sun-faded over the spines. The leather covers are still smooth and intact, with a lovely oxblood shade and a bright gilt shield with the title information. The spines feel more like suede but the gilt print is still clear. The pages are clean, tight and intact, with no significant age-related yellowing. The bindings are stitched with the covered glued on. There is some splitting of the glue near the front of eight of the twelve books, as often happens with these turn of the century bindings, but nothing is coming loose (see photo #10). A large, thin book on how to make leis with money folded in. Very little wear. 48 colorful pages. Appears to be a highly valued book. Most priced well above mine. (Money not included.)

Small amounts of wear, primarily at the corners. There are spine creases, but the pages are still rather tight. Store sticker on back. A Penn Cage novel. Cage goes from Houston to Natchez, only to find home is not the haven he was seeking.

A dictionary that has been used. For the French learner of English, but should work the other way, too. Although there are no spine creases, there are plenty of creases on the front and back covers. Front cover also has a stain on the upper edge, which extends to the first 40 or so pages as a slight area of wrinkles, but without the stain. HAs no impact on the use of this book. 1055 pages.

This book has a weak spot in the binding. Nothing is loose, but if it isn't handled with care, a break could develop. Leather bound, this compact book has suffered through its 132-year existence. The cover over the spine has separated from the rear cover, as shown in photo #3. There are other places where some of the leather has chipped away. The pages, however, remain clean and tight. with no markings other than the owner's name inside the front cover. Publishers in the 19th century did not always include the year of publication, and this one is no exception. However, due to the wonders of the internet and the habit of the publisher to change the title page with every printing, I was able to pinpoint this particular publication as from 1890. The Sketch-book itself was first published in England in 1819. Among the short stories attributed to "Geoffrey Crayon, Gent" are two of Washington Irving's most famous, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Rip Van Winkle.

Originally published as The Sketch-Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent, this book contains 33 short stories, including Rip Van Winkle and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The art on the front cover is quite faded and the fabric is splitting along the back edge of the spine (see photos). Pagers are tight and intact, although there are a few stray pencil marks scattered throughout. The original owner also decided to write his name many times on the front endpaper and made some additional notes on the half-title page. This is part of Macmillan's Pocket American and English Classics Series. A fairly rare book. For an ealier version, see ST01704.

First edition. Very little wear to the dust jacket and none I can find to the book itself. Dark blue fabric covered boards with a photograph on the front. Print stamped on the front cover in black and gilt, with more gilt print on the spine. Black ribbon bookmark. Pages are clean, tight and unmarked. The book looks unread. Rather scarce. Fourteenth in the series of 24.

A very large paperback, with 612 pages. There is some wear at the corners and edges, and the spine has its share of creases as really think paperbacks tend to do. There is, however, some special wear, as this book came from a home with a book-biting cat. Although the cat missed the cover, the first few pages show the effects, with some holes and tears on the first promo page (see photo #4) which dwindle down to a small group of indentations by the first page of the novel (see photo #5). Even these indentations are gone by the end of the first chapter. Described as "...a brilliantly crafted story of con artists and true lovers, of treachery and devotion -- and one brave lawyer's triumphant fight for justice."

Little wear. 255 pages are clean, tight and intact. Spine has a couple of shallow creases. The first of three novels in the Advice Column Mystery series. The author, a clinical psychologist, pens a mystery where an advice columnist, who happens to also be a clinical psychologist, investigates an apparent suicide of her neighbor's child, coming to a different conclusion.

Little wear. Blue fabric covered boards with gilt print on the spine. Pages are clean, tight and unmarked. A former library book, so there is some sticker residue in places and a few sharpie-covered library stamps.
