Description:
Moscow: Scientific and Art Museum of Horse Breeding, 1992. No stated edition. Soft cover. Good (handling wear). 44p, ca. 40 color pls. The title is taken from a poem by Pushkin, "Winter Morning," in which the author while traveling by sleigh drops the reins to "let the restless horse run forward on its own." In Russian and English. Selections from this museum that holds over 3000 paintings, sculptures, and other works of equestrian art. It was created in 1929, originally from the large art collection donated by horse breeder Y.I. Butovich. Sadly, he met an uncertain fate in 1930s Soviet Russia, but his legacy lives on. The museum, now part of the Timiryazev Agricultural Academy, is still active. Scarce, at least in the U.S. Can be sent outside the US for less than the default shipping rate.
