A large, magnificent painting of the Thomas W Lawson, a seven-masted, steel-hulled schooner built for the Pacific trade, but used primarily to haul coal and oil along the East Coast of the United States. Named for copper baron Thomas W. Lawson, a Boston millionaire, stock-broker, book author, and President of the Boston Bay State Gas Co., she was launched in 1902 as the largest schooner and largest sailing vessel without an auxiliary engine ever built. Acrylic on artboard, image 14.7"x20.5", SIGNED by the artist "M.J. Barton '74", published in "Si 16" (or Gi 16) 1974, no further information available.

Biggles & Co (as The Gold Flyers) - FIRST PRINTING - pre-dating the book publication of April 1936, complete in 10 parts in issues 413-422 (4/1/36-7/3/36), with 13 illustrations that don't appear in the book or anywhere else (and not used by Norman Wright as he never reprinted this title), staple rust as usual, otherwise mostly VG or slightly better, for the 10... .

Limited to 300 copies, of which this is number 284, hardback in d/w. Originally published in hardback in 1966, this is one of the harder-to-find Biggles titles, and is here reprinted in hardback for the first time. The new dustwrapper is by Andrew Skilleter, who has also drawn a b/w frontispiece, SIGNED by the illustrator and publisher on the title page, a Mint copy in a Mint d/w..

Limited to 300 copies, of which this is number 26, signed by artist and publisher, hardback in d/w, an elusive title, now reprinted (the first edition was in 1970) with a dustwrapper by Andrew Skilleter, who has also drawn a colour frontispiece. Andrew Skilleter has also drawn on the front endpaper a beautiful, original pencil drawing of a (Wolsley?) car, signed and dated (please see images). Mint in Mint d/w (but ALL copies have a production fault showing a glue shadow at the inner hinges].
