Of interest is the Seven Don't on the reverse. They include Don't think and talk about your ailments, Don't over-eat, or eat too fast, chew your food, Don't sleep in a closed room without ventilation, or sit in a draft, Don't neglect your regular osteopathic treatments until well, and you will be happy and able to make others happy around you. etc.

Ligonier, Pennsylvania, 1887. Matilda J Peterson was born in 1866 in Ligonier, Pennsylvania and died in1958 (according to a note at the back of the album). This album was given to her by W. A. Peterson for Christmas in 1881. The album is partially filled with short notes, generally in verse and two different versions of an ink drawing of a bird on ferns. At the beginning of the album, Matilda or Tillie as she is called, addresses her friends: "My album is a golden spot Where all my friends may sow, Where thorns and thistles flourish not, But flowers alone may grow. With smiles for sunshine, tears for showers, I'll water, watch and guard these flowers." Between 1882 and 1887. Tillie's friends wrote in this album, the majority of which were her classmates at Ligonier High School. The gorgeously illustrated pop-up panorama truly brings the characters and scenery to life. It is one illustration that expands over two pages depicting a gathering scene of the various fairies in the woods. There is a little story and poem that are placed within the scenery to give context to the illustrations. Also, within the scenery are various pull and lift tabs in the that are meant to blend in, making for a fun find and adds interactivity with the story. Addition of a paper doll and a clear plastic pouch containing various outfits for the doll. 12" x 11 3/4

San Francisco, California: Lawton Kennedy, 1960. Very good. Minor flaws including toning, unobtrusive short tears, dust soiling, wear to extremities.. A remarkable archive of material created and collected by Jane Hohfeld Galante of the prominent San Francisco Hohfield family, including two original manuscripts and a scarce children's book privately printed for her by Lawton Kennedy. The privately printed book appears to be loosely based off of the manuscripts, illustrated by Alice Wilkins Neilson c.1960. Both the manuscripts and the book include short sayings and rhymes coined by Jane when she was young girl several decades before in the 1920s; they were previously written down by the girl's mother. There is also a small grouping of correspondence and a list tracking the dozens of presentation copies gifted from Jane to her friends from as far away as France and Japan. Paris: H. Camus, 1870. Overall condition is good. This six piece wooden puzzle with applied depicts a critical scene in the life of little Tom Thumb. The color lithograph is done by H. Jannin depicts the two parents at a table by a fire with sad expressions, as the caption reveals that the mother and father have decided to "loose" Tom in the forest. The mother has her hands clasped beneath her chin and the father with a hand over his heart to convey the difficult decision they made. All the while, Little Tom is eavesdropping right behind them. The puzzle is simple and is doable for a small child. Measures 6 3/4" x 5

New York: Margaret K. McElderry Book, 1979. 32pp. Dust jacket. Both written & Illustrated by Faith Jaques, the book tells the story of a doll named Tilly, who leaves the her doll house in search of a place of her own. Along the way she befriends a teddy bear named Edward, who helps her find her way in the world. Tilly shows herself to be a strong, independent individual who is not afraid of hardwork. The illustrations in this children's book are the real gem, as they are extremely rich and detailed and make Tilly's world come to life for the reader. Measures 10 x 8 1/4" Very minor edge wear, due to rubbing. A small amount of brown speckles on the front cover.

Paris, France: Sandoz, Jobin and Co, 1904. 10 pp, Cover depicts nine children dancing. The illustration is in color along with some decorative flowers. While the entire works of Oeuvres Enfantines by Jaques-Dalcroze contains a total of 15 rounds, this only has # 626, "La Ronde des Saison Fleuries', which roughly translstes to 'The Round of the Season's Flowers'. It is a song about the different seasons of flowers. A the end of the score, it also tells a teacher how to perform the song. Measures 12 1/4" x 9 1/4" Soiling and toning due to age. Covers are partially separated.

Rahway, NJ, 1874. wear on cover, some foxing throughout. A friendship album, aptly titled "Album of Friendship", belonging to a woman by the name of Jennie. Her last name is never mentioned. The album is mostly blank, but the entries date from 1874, and when a location is noted, it is Rahway, NJ. One of the entries of note is a poem about "six sisters fair". The title of the poem are the six names: Dora, Jennie, Lillie, Eva, Pauline, and Gertie. The six names surround another word, "Freddie", and within the poem is the line "I have seen six sisters fair, Oh, that I were but a Freddie, In such sisterly love to share." Based on this line, it is possible that Jennie's last name is Frederick, but that is a hypothesis. Another unique entry is a short rebus, which is not deciphered. Please see the photographs. This book gives detailed instructions on how one can make both their own dolls and their own dollhouse filled with homemade doll furniture. The book jacket states, "One does not have to be gifted to make a doll or doll house or doll clothes.... Mother and child together- and even brother and father, for there are boy dolls too- will find making a doll or doll house a game that the whole family can enjoy." The book starts with a simple rag doll, before showing the reader how to take that design and change it into dolls from all around the world, such as a French doll, an Eskimo doll, and a Chinese boy doll. The book continues on to different types of dolls, such as twig dolls, and sock dolls, before moving on to doll clothes and finally doll furniture. Tampa, Florida: Third Air Force, 1945. Near-fine.. A darkly humorous cartoon titled "Booby the Bear", published to remind members of the Air Force to "Obey Camouflage Discipline" and observe "the rules of protective concealment". The story itself follows Booby, a foolish polar bear who does not bother to conceal himself from a big game hunter in a plane. He became the "perfect target" and "BOOM"- "Booby got it". The story closes with a picture of Booby as "a rug in a Trophy room, still with that same self-satisfied and silly smile". Single vol. (6" by 8.75"), pp. [24], illus., stapled in original illus. wrps. with polar bear on front. OCLC - 0 (December 2023). John Vassos (1898-1985) was captain in the Engineering Corps in charge of camouflage for the 3rd Air Force Headquarters, and was, as this book might hint at, an avid hunter. He was promoted to colonel at the conclusion of the war.

The first page is seven (7) captioned characters from Cinderella to be cut out. Self stands. On the previous page is the narrative for "Cinderella - A Story Play to Accompany the Cut-out Pictures on the Opposite Page". Written in two scenes with extensive dialogue and stage directions for each character. This is followed by a note beginning Dear Children: Here is your chance to play "Cinderella" in a real theater, with Actor people to move about on a real stage"... The reverse of the character page has an advertisement and instructions on how to acquire the actually Pictorial Review theater for the price of One Dollar. Irregular margins.

Juniata, PA, 1918. General wear and toning due to age and quality of paper. Letter folds. Some letters have partial or complete detachment at folds. One of the letters has tape repair. Most of the envelopes are damaged, and only included the front side.. A collection of eight (8) letters written by Pvt. Glenn H. Jones (1890-1921) to his mother, Ida, and sisters Jennie and Amelia "May", who were living in Juniata, PA. The letters date from February 1918 to November 1918. During the first few letters he is training in Pensacola, FL at the US Navy Aeronautics Station to become a Naval Plane Repairman. As the year progresses, Jones ships off overseas to an unnamed location in France. His letters to his mother and sisters focus on responding to what news he hears from home and the family's financial struggles. He provides only brief updates about what he is doing, most likely both due to wartime censorship and an attempt to not worry his family back home. Greer, first published in 1903; this part is from a reissuing of the individual chapters by Laird & Lee in 1921. It covers the following chapters: "The Unfolding of Womanhood"; "The Fulfillment of the Law"; and "The Fruits of Fulfillment". Throughout these chapters, Greer (who, it should be said, is a male physician) advises women in matters of sex and marriage, such as avoiding "prudishness", seeing sex as a spiritual activity, choosing a partner, and offering early and honest sex education to children. An advertising booklet meant to attract farmers into establishing fruit farms in the Victoria, Australia. The main portion of the booklet is written by Patrick Joseph Carmody who was the Chief Inspector of Orchards for the Department of Agriculture in Melbourne. He asserts that "Victoria, compared with all other countries stands unrivaled for the last few years in the expansion of the industry of fruit production." The rest of the booklet discusses the suitability of Victoria for fruit growing, how to dispose of the produce, state assistance offered to growers, the approximate cost to set up, the variety of fruit one can plant (Jonathan Apple, Cleopatra apple, Winter Nelis pear, etc.), pruning, and future development in the industry.
