The green covers are in very good condition, with minor bumping on top and bottom of spine, bottom corners are bumped/creased. The title, author, and publisher in gold on spine. The dust jacket is generally in very good condition; there is fraying on the top and bottom of the spine and corners and along all edges of the jacket. The front flap of the jacket is clipped at top, but the price ($3.50) is present at bottom. The dust jacket is protected in a clear, archival removable cover. The binding is solid. The interior of this book is in very good plus condition. The inner front and rear covers and endpapers include a green map of the Allagash Country in the State of Maine by Henry B. Kane. The brown covers are in good condition with rubbing at the top and base of spine and general wear on the edges, corners are bumped. Title and author in gold color on spine. The endpapers and pastedowns are brown. A previous owner name and address is written on the front free end paper and there are a few numbers written on the back free end paper. Otherwise, there is no other writing detected in the book. The pages are in good shape, with no spotting evident, one page near the end is heavily creased. The page edges are dirty in spots. This is a thick book, but the binding is solid. The front paper cover of this booklet is completely detached, but present; the back cover is partially detached. There are also some chips in the covers, especially a large one on the top of front cover (approx. 1" x 1"). The binding is otherwise tight and intact. The rest of the booklet is in generally good condition, the only other significant blemishes are the ex-library markings. On the front cover, there is a small New York State Library stamp along with one on the inside of the back cover. On the bottom of the verso of the title page, there is a small stamp and writing that indicate this booklet was a gift of the A. R. Spofford estate in 1908. This could refer to Ainsworth R. Spofford (1825-1908) who served as the Librarian of Congress from 1864 to 1897.
