Description:
Boston, Massachusetts: J. T. and E. Buckingham, 1832. First Edition. quarter leather over boards. Fair. 6 issues bound as one volume, not including original wraps or advertisements. Octavo, 10" tall, [2] + 620 + 4 engraved plate pages, quarter cloth over boards. A fair copy only given that the covers are loose, the cloth back strip is partially missing, the boards are edge worn scuffed and worn through at the fore-corner tips, -- BUT the interior is in very good condition, paper clean, supple (pre-civil war paper was of a generally higher quality) only lightly yellowed, and relatively unfoxed. Still a good reading copy of this mostly original compendium of the culture in the middle of the 19th Century.
