Goodyear went overland to the Rockies with the Whitman party in 1836 to seek independence and adventure. He became a trapper and trader, built the first home in Utah, and was a California pioneer of 1849. Howes K56 Charles Kelly (1889-1971) was a writer of Western history and a collector of Western lore and an historian of the American West whose work focuses on activities in the western salt desert of Utah and Nevada. He was also a printer, painter and superintendent of Capitol Reef National Monument. He was a partner for the Western Printing Company, where he remained until 1940.

Bruce Anthony King (1934-2017) was a Toronto born photographer and contemporary artist who was educated at The Whitney School, The Bancroft School, The Crescent School, The Upper Canada College Preparatory School, St. Andrews College, and Hamilton College. His work has been in solo exhibitions in New York, Massachusetts, London, Montreal, and more and is held in the collections of the Worcester Art Museum, The Canadian National Film Board, The Museum of Modern Art, and the Boston Museum of Fine Art.

William Patrick Kinsella (1935-2016) began writing at a young age, winning a YMCA contest at age fourteen. Kinsella received his BA from University of Victoria in 1974, before obtaining a master of fine arts in English through the Iowa Writers' Workshop (1978). Before becoming a professional author, he was a professor of English at the University of Calgary. Kinsella's most famous work 'Shoeless Joe' was the basis for the classic movie, 'Field of Dreams.'.

Grand Canyon, AZ: Kolb Brothers, 1913. Large silver gelatin [35.5 cm 28 cm] / [14" x 11"] with Kolb mark in the lower right corner. Strong contrasts. Portrait of a Native American man wearing a shell necklace in a blanket. The legendary Kolb Brothers, Emery & Ellsworth, opened their studio in 1904, perched on the rim of the Grand Canyon (it is the building that looms over the top of the Bright Angel Trail). The building is still standing, but is now operated as a museum and gallery. They took countless images of the Canyon and the Colorado River below. Ellsworth and Emery Kolb were brothers, born in Pennsylvania, interested in photography and the 'Wild West.' In the winter of 1911, they made the first motion picture of a river trip down the Green and Colorado rivers, where the brothers were repeatedly tossed into the river by their bucking boats.
