Kaiser Friedrich Der Zweite

Ernst Kantorowicz

  • Book condition: Fine
  • Quantity available: 1
Berlin - Georg Bondi, 1931 Book. Fine. Hardcover. Aearly editionof Kantorowicz's biography of Frederich II, written in German. Notable for portraying the Holy Roman Emperor as something of a tragic hero, as well as an idealised embodiment of Germany, the work attracted bewildered criticism for its treatment of Friedrich, especially from the mainstream historical community, accusing the author of 'mythmaking'. The author's apparentpatriotism and conservatism, as seen clearly in this history, would not be enough to save his post at the University of Frankfurt upon the implemenation of the Nuremburg Laws, which also forced him out of Germany several years later. Condition: In cloth binding with gilt detailing. Externally very smart, there is some minor shelfwear and light markings to boards only. Internally, the pages are firmly bound and are bright and clean throughout, although there is some minor creasing to a plate and an ink inscription to endpages. Overall: FINE..
