These 7 large (12" x 9.75"0 pamphlets are basically, clean, tight, square and internally unmarked, but the names of the "prominent personages" presented are written across the top margins of the front wrap. The wrap are rubbed, more so at the yapped edges, age darkened (or sunned) and a few have split spines. They contain pp: 217-360, 385-408, clear, glossy pages illustrated with black & white plates (some tissue guarded) bound in light blue wraps with black titles and designs. The characters detailed are Frederic the Great, Napoleon Bonaparte, Duke of Wellington,Tecumseh, Oliver Perry,Winfield Scott, Garibaldi, among many others. They are undated, but 1894 is the accepted publication date for these series which were sold by subscription only.

This book was originally owned by Georgina Lewis (Oct. 15-1888) and she signed it thus on the front free end paper. The book was subsequently used in 1916-1917 by three of her sons at their various schools and they signed it, added the name of their school and a date. The author, historian genealogist Frederic Lewis Weis in 1917 and his brothers Richard Clapp Weis in 1917 and Francis Wilson Weis in 1916. Otherwise, the book is clean, tight, square and unmarked. It is lightly bumped/rubbed, more so at the ends of the spine which are mildly frayed. It has decorative end papers and 213, bright, clear pages (some earlier pages are lightly foxed) extensively illustrated with color maps and plates.
