  • Edition: ARC Advance Readers Copy
  • Book condition: Near Fine+
  • Quantity available: 1
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Steig Larsson (first book of the Millenium Trilogy) Advance Reader's Readers Copy ARC of the original UK Edition MacLehose 2008 Translated from the Sweedish into English by Steven T. Murray as indicated on the title page. Trade Paperback format in Near Fine+ condition, with slight reading lines on the spine, and just the tiniest hint of nicking to the corners. SCARCE in any condition! Only one other copy is on the net right now, with an asking price near $2000. Priced to sell. NOTE: Of special interest: this is the only edition which indicates the true name of the translator, Steven T. Murray, on the title page of any of the Steig Larsson books in English. Because of translation disagreements with the publishers MacLehose UK and Knopf US, Murray adopted a pseudonym, Reg Keeland, as a kind of protest, which is now on all subsequent copies of the books, including all the trade first printings hardcovers and the ARC's of the final two books. This is as far as I know the ONLY editi ... Read more

The Castle of Dark

Tanith Lee

  • Edition: First Edition
  • Book condition: Very Good
  • Quantity available: 1
The Castle of Dark by Tanith Lee (author of Claidi , Piratica, Lionwolf series, Night's Master, Death's Master, etc.) Hardcover First Edition - First Printing Macmillan UK 1978. £3.95 cover price, blue green boards inside dust jacket with wrap-around art by Bridie Page. (No hardcover edition of this book has been released in the US to my knowledge.) Extremely uncommon of one of Tanith Lee's early novels, a foray into Gothic-Fantasy. Very Good in Near Fine Dust Jacket. Book has some reading and shelf-wear, toning to the text-block, but interior is quite bright and readable, only a fingerprint-size stain on the first page, a bit of peeling to the lower boards, and a stamp to the copyright page indicating it was part of some kind of library. Endpapers are present and NO trace of a pocket or any other indignity. The dust jacket is completely intact and very bright and vivid on the outside, does have some dark staining to its back but is not noticeable on the front, and letter-number code on the back flap. Actua ... Read more

The Blood of Roses

Tanith Lee

  • Edition: First Edition
  • Book condition: Fine-/Near Fine+
  • Quantity available: 1
The Blood of Roses by Tanith Lee Hardcover First Edition - First Printing London: Legend UK, 1990. (never released in the US) Signed and dated by the late Tanith Lee. Cover illustration by Jeff Willis. Fine- in Fine Dust Jacket. A beautiful copy. The boards are clean, corners, straight, binding solid. The lettering on the spine is bright and clean (the scan doesn't do it justice.) The main shortcoming is some superficial soiling and a superficial damp stain to the bottom edge of the text block, not affecting the inner pages at all. For some reason, copies seem to be prone to soiling on the text block edge, a notorious problem for this edition. Tanith Lee (1947-2015) may be the most underrated modern fantasy writer of the 20th and early 21st century. Her prose style reads like poetry and her themes were often mythological usually medieval in inspiration. Sadly Tanith Lee left us in 2015. Many of her early books had small print-runs, but quite a few have remained in print. Her first book was the Dragon Hoard a ... Read more

Gun, with Occasional Music

Jonathan Lethem

  • Edition: First Edition
  • Book condition: Fine
  • Quantity available: 1
Gun, with Occasional Music by Jonathan Lethem Hardcover First Edition - First Printing Harcourt Brace 1994. author's first book. Fine in Fine- Dust Jacket with a price-clip. NOTE: The jacket is largely fine! The dust jacket art shows what appears to be a crinkling dust jacket, like you might find for hardboiled novels of the 1940's and 1950's. This is just for artistic-aesthetic visuals. The dust jacket itself does not have the wear-and-tear which is shown in the image. Gun, with Occasional Music is a 1994 novel which blends science fiction and hardboiled detective fiction. It was nominated for the Nebula Award for Best Novel in 1994. The novel follows the adventures of Conrad Metcalf, a tough guy private detective and a wiseass, through a futuristic version of San Francisco and Oakland, California. Metcalf is hired by a man who claims that he's being framed for the murder of a prominent urologist. Metcalf quickly discovers that nobody wants the case solved: not the victim's ex-wife, not the police, and certa ... Read more

Songs of a Dead Dreamer

Thomas Ligotti

  • Edition: first hardcover edition
  • Book condition: Fine
  • Quantity available: 1
Songs of a Dead Dreamer by Thomas Ligotti First Hardcover Edition - First Printing Carroll and Graf 1989 (true first edition was a limited issue trade paperback published Silver Scarab Press, 1985 and later published by Subterranean Press in a hardcover limited edition). Fine in Very Good+ Dust Jacket. The book is perfect and appears unread. The dust jacket is mainly clean on the front, but has some pealing to the back and tape on four words of the second paragraph blurb. (I couldn't remove it without removing the letters so I left it intact.) Still overall a nice copy I'm selling for about half of normal because of the back of the dust jacket. NOTE: All modern books with dust jackets come with dust jacket covers. ALSO: The picture is of the actual item for sale. (The picture is NOT a stock photo.)

The Master of Ballantrae by Robert Louis Stevenson (author of Treasure Island, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Kidnapped, the Black Arrow) Hardcover First US Edition - First State Charles Scribner's Sons 1889. No preface and 2 pages of adds to the back. Includes 10 plate illustrations including a frontispiece flanking the title page.
