Description:
London. Jonathan Cape. 1936. Octavo (8 x 5 1/2). 239 pp. Illustrated by C.F. Tunnicliffe. Inscribed and signed by Roderick Haig-Brown on the half-title. Roderick Haig-Brown’s inscription gives thanks to a lady on behalf of his son, Alan Roderick Haig-Brown, dated 1941. This is the first illustrated edition, and it’s a re-issue of the 1932 first edition published by A. & C. Black in 1932. Attractive color illustrated end papers, and Mr. Tunnicliffe’s text drawings add a nice touch as well. This book is bound in the first state binding with silver titles on the spine and it’s bound in a lighter shade of green cloth than later binding states. Quite a nice book and rare signed. Bright, clean, and in fine condition in a fine dust jacket..

An eye-popping compendium of Atlantic salmon flies taken from Farlows’ two original pattern books, preserved by the firm for more than one hundred years. The flies are described and shown in brilliant color and were catalogued and indexed in the two large volumes dating from ca. 1904, and it is from this source the compiler has assembled this splendid work. Description:
New York. Crown Publishers, Inc. 1970. First Edition. Quarto (9 1/2 x 7). 352 pp. Inscribed and signed by Nick Lyons on the half-title page. A fine collection of stories and essays, mostly about fly fishing, but with a few scattered remnants on slinging bait. There are real nuggets herein, including G. E. M. Skues’s "Mr. Theodore Castwell" and "Murder" by Sparse Grey Hackle and Roland Pertwee’s "The River God" and "A Wedding Gift" by John Taintor Foote and "A Day’s Fishing, 1948" by Ed Zern and Henry van Dyke’s "A Fatal Success" and "To Know a River" by Roderick Haig-Brown. These are just a few personal highlights and I’m sure you will find your favorites, too. A book easy to find, but damn scarce signed by Nick. The book is bound in green cloth with silver titles. Pictorial dust jacket. A pristine book. Fine in a fine dust jacket. . Signed by Author.
