Hammett issued profusely illustrated trade catalogs of school supplies, furniture, science equipment, globes and printed materials during the 1870's. This particular catalog was first issued in 1872 and then re-issued for 1874 with a new pictorial wrapper. The 1872 catalog is listed in Romaine and Worldcat but not the updated 1874 issuance. Uncommon. "Contemporary owner's signature on front wrapper along with one vertical crease mark, light soiling and spine wear. Overall a very good + copy.

Lambert prepared this treatise in an effort to show how the law of dower had been adapted and applied in the United States in the early years of the republic. The emphasis is on the rights of women to control property inherited from a spouse. Comprising a Digest of the American Decisions, and the Provisions of the Revised Statutes of the State of New York. Some scuffing to leather with a small mark to the top outer corner of each board. Also a few tiny ink spots on front board. Portions of the text block have light tanning from age. Still a very good copy overall.
