Eastwood was a botanist, who among other achievements, is credited with building the botanical collection of the California Academy of Sciences. Trivial tanning to rear endpaper, a few spots of foxing somewhat hidden by deckle foredge. In faded, price clipped white & red jacket, with fairly pronounced soil to white portions; rubbing at edges. Still overall a clean, tight, and attractive little set. TEXT IN FRENCH. D'Aunoy was known for her literary fairy tales told in the conversational manner of the salon. First published in 1697, she called her works contes des fees (fairy tales), which generally became the term used for the genre. .

The third of the four pages is a copy of a printed cover letter on the letterhead of Zybert Graphics to Cushing-Malloy of Ann Arbor regarding enclosed film negative and blue line proof for the cover of the book Recent Events, : "that you are printing for Kevin Magee . . ." The first two pages of correspondence, dated September and October, 1995 respectively, are dense with information about the design and typography of the book. François Magendie (6 October 1783 7 October 1855) was a French physiologist, considered a pioneer of experimental physiology. He is known for describing the foramen of Magendie. There is also a Magendie sign, a downward and inward rotation of the eye due to a lesion in the cerebellum. .
